Happy July, AZAND Members (and non-members who might be reading!)

I’m pleased to provide the second monthly update on the happenings in AZAND. This past month has been dedicated to establishing a solid foundation for the year ahead.

Inaugural Board Meeting: We convened our first board meeting, where we engaged in productive
discussions and charted our course for the year. Key initiatives and strategies were defined, setting the stage for impactful work in the coming months.

Committee Formation: We’ve assembled our committees, each comprising dedicated members with a wealth of expertise. They are targeting several areas—updating the roles of our various Board members to make it more efficient, brainstorming and developing member benefits, getting rolling on next year’s annual conference planning, and numerous others. Our committees’ members are eager to contribute their knowledge and passion to our specific focus areas, ensuring comprehensive representation and effective progress.

Reviewing Our Mission and Vision: This upcoming month we will also turn our attention to refining our core documents – the mission and vision statements. These statements serve as the guiding principles for our organization, outlining our purpose and aspirations. We believe it’s essential to ensure they accurately reflect the current landscape of dietetics and the evolving needs of our members. If you have any feedback you’d like to share about where our “north star” should be pointing (or perhaps even do a small bit of “micro volunteering” to aid us), please do not hesitate to reach out to me at AZANDPresident@gmail.com!

Member Input is Key: As we’re focusing on revitalizing our mission and vision statements, I feel it is
important to put a specific emphasis on highlighting the value proposition for our membership. Your
input is critical to this process. We are launching a survey to gather your feedback on the types of services and resources that would be most beneficial to you in your professional endeavors. We encourage all members, and even those considering membership, to actively participate in this survey. Your insights are invaluable as we strive to create a member-centric organization that empowers you to excel in your field.

Thank you for your continued dedication to the field of dietetics. Together, we can create a thriving community and positively impact the world of nutrition in Arizona.
